*** BREAKING NEWS

Okay, I know most of you knew what happened to taiwanese actress Xu Wei Lun but I just cannot believe it man! It's because, I just read the newspaper(life) yesterday about her and well, it did wrote she's in critical condition but I thought she may just recover! (so that simple?) Oh gosh, ......then in the morning today, I told meiqi then she said "ta si le, zuo tian". I was like, 'huh?!?!' Then I thought she was joking or what. =(.

Then when I got home, I told my sis then she said she knew about it already cos yesterday peifen (FM 93.3 dj) said over the radio when people smsed in. I slept already so I didn't hear it.
I went to search about her informations...she is quite pretty...and young. I thought it was rather pity and wasted. She is also talented.

"Xu Wei Lun was involved in accident on the Taichung stretch of Taiwan's National Highway No. 1 at 23:15 on 2007 January 26 while travelling with her assistant to Nantou for the filming of Tai Yang De Nu Er. Despite 43 hours of emergency treatment, she passed away on January 28, 2007 at 19:37 local time. "

Her good friends like Rainie, Zhang Shan Wei, He Jun Xiang, Lin Yi Chen were there at her funeral...shan't put her photos here...if you want, go look for yourself. :p

muscle ache-ing all around my body cause I did 30+ situps and few times of inclined pull-up and the monkey bar yesterday...hahahaha. although it's rather painful, but it's quite shiok when you actually massage it. lol. when laugh that time you can feel the pain on the stomach there....

these few days the wind damn strong sia, whenever I come to school and go back home, the wind blow my hair until dunno what...so messy ( i know my hair is already messy!) ...tsk tsk..although it's cooling lah.

To end the topic today, I shall have some research about Geophysics!

Geophysics, the study of the Earth by quantitative physical methods, especially by seismic, electromagnetic, and radioactivity methods.

It includes the branches of:
Seismology (earthquakes and elastic waves)
Gravity and geodesy (the Earth's gravitational field and the size and form of the earth)
Atmospheric science, which includes:
Atmospheric electricity and terrestrial magnetism (including ionosphere, Van Allen belts, telluric currents, Radiant energy, etc.)
Meteorology and Climatology, which both involve studies of the weather.
Aeronomy, the study of the physical structure and chemistry of the atmosphere.

An earthquake is a phenomenon that results from the sudden release of stored energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. At the Earth's surface, earthquakes may manifest themselves by a shaking or displacement of the ground and sometimes tsunamis, which may lead to loss of life and destruction of property.
Earthquakes may occur naturally or as a result of human activities. In its most generic sense, the word earthquake is used to describe any seismic event - whether a natural phenomenon or an event caused by humans - that generates seismic waves.

feelin a bit of stress on me already.
cos i flunked my bloody emath test (similarity & congruency), dunno how to do the 10 page assignment
amath approximation still not very clear
homework dunno how to do
blah blah blah
wth, shit.

dunno what to say already. all i can say is stupid stupid & stupid! (of course im not referrin to myself...haha)
but hor...really very !!!!!!!!!! argh. =X qi si ren la. sha le wo ba. (LOL) *bang the wall*
SHIT.

about the chinese workshop, they taught us about the first part which we can use almost in any bao zhang bao dao right. if everybody uses the same starting, won't it be so boring and no new things? though our content may be different la. and our chinese teacher didn't even give us the idioms & phrases for it whilst other classes have. but don't only give 1 sheet la...should give more so that we can memorise and use them. (dont say i can go photocopy myself or find my own hor, cos it's her duty to give us since other classes also have!) i think we should also read other model bao zhang bao dao ba.

luckily prelim results is on prelim only. never count CA marks if not i....erhem. cos starting of the year my results are always not very good one. then will affect the overall. wahaha. cos the test all on 1 topic 1 topic...more difficult lo i think. at least EOY more topics will come out and each topic is a bit only.

tml all sec4s & 5s will be having english mock exam (compre) and im in 4e4...lol. the teacher is ms karine woo....wonder how would she be like...no la, just invigilating us ba...but i think we have the supplementary or what lessons right? in that case she would be teaching us then.......O....taking the moderate paper...if my compre marks in e1 and e4 differ a lot....u should know the ans bah...cos....lol...=p

though our english CA marks (last yr) may be counted differently from other classes which caused quite a bit of resentment amongst (cos of u know y), but im glad Mr K. Wee is teaching us. =) He's so like more professional...& he don't give very high marks and all. so, you can actually say the marks are rather inaccurate.

but nvm, till this yr all of us will be taking the same english O paper and all the markers should be about the same...so, forget about the past marks in school!

u know i know can liao....ahahhahahahaha.
whatever.

dance floor is showing soon.....

cos he connect the inside thingy wrongly lo..u know the put harddisk there...then cos i need to use thumbdrive to transfer the shows from the old comp to here but the USB cannot connect..so i cannot watch first...wa lao.
then today he went back already....no time to fix it....excuse la...cos he playing games mah plus he's lazy....hahaha.

sat went to SCH for SYF rehearsal...1 h only...no time to play the whole song for vogelhandler.
and hor, muzhen and i not in tune with the trombones leh...sianz diao.
i always pull out the neck of my instru a lot cos if i dont do tt, i cant play my high B,C & D. so now if i push in (to match the tuning or sound), i cant play those notes...i mean can play lah, but the sound is different. haiz. so must do tuning with muzhen frequently liao....& her instrument got prob la, when blow tt time can hear zzzz...somewhere else is leaking...but i dunno la. and her high B & C also difficult to blow....why bass clarinet the keys got so many prob one...!!!!!! cos it's so long mah....arGh. ahaha. sianz diao again.

and i dunno whr the hell the sunrise original scores went....i did bring back from compassvale to sch...but now i cant find it. damnit. could it be i put the scores together with those old scores at tt room already...but i shld have seen it when i packed out all those what...whatever....hope we dont need it....or wait, somebody took it away already?!?! god knows...

biology lesson is soo boring lah...dunno wth he talking cos i dont want to listen to him...ahahah, i rather go home & read myself ...opps. and i have to MEMORISE biology......i mean, even if i can read and understand already, i still need to rmb the facts and the info what...
practically is read, understand then memorise lo? but of course sometimes u forget u will rephrase a bit yourself la....

the chem test hor...kao eh...got 1 qns is ask find the oxidation state of Cr right...the equation is (NH4)2Cr207 sth like tt right...the N stands for nitrogen, but i go find for Na(sodium) de oxidation state then all wrong(do too much of Na liao...ahahah)...then the ask u is reduction or oxidation of course also wrong lo...3 marks gone...and the mcq also got few wrong already.....so, next time for chem test, ppl rmb go and study the TYS qns cos the cher took the same exact qns from there....one lesson learned.

haiyah.........must be in tune lahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! shit.

January 13, 2007

there is always a purpose i want to convey to people out there when i go researching about infos like motivation, goal quotes, about one's self and many others if you guys have read them before. (it's not tt im so free or perhaps im really tt...lol...yala) it is because there may have been something happened to me or which i noticed/observed or loathed it or whatever, that's why i started searching more info about that particular subject; for i cant write them all out by myself in my own opinion or what i think, aint wanna make it so obvious and direct or whatever. for i know smart people like you can understand the context and their meaning (i not saying myself but for those we read them)(the subject is quite or mostly general so it does not show biasness), and perhaps they can gain more knowledge or reflect upon themselves from it.

for example, my previous post was about the goal quotes and the EQ. i purposely go and look up for the EQ cos it's about how one behaves. actually what's EQ all about? izzit about like when u watch a very touchin show u will cry like hell...for this, i also dunno (lame) but.......it describes
an ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one's self, of others, and of groups. (as from my previous post..and i know it's repetition so get bored now)

does tt supposedly mean the skills u shld hav when u are talkin to people? like u shld know when and not to talk, know what u're talkin!, dont be so direct as to u will hurt or embarrass others (especially if the person u're confrontin to think he got no face already when u said tt to him, means u're in deep shit...nv think of what tt person will feel when u say tt) perhaps use a more indirect way...(i dunno how you gotcha do tt) or just simply shutup, keep the comments to urself, dont always just blurt out everythin u think or see (know when to keep to urself, but one disadvantage, u will keepin thinkin abt tt if u are tryin to put urself in tt person's shoe and understand what's tt fella thinkin) good, can set ur brain thinkin & become smarter but ltr think until ur white hairs come out (lame). so tt's tt.

okay, maybe sometimes i do that too without noticing.

- Self-Management: Using awareness of emotions to manage response to different situations and people.
- Social Awareness: Understanding the perspectives of other people including their motivations, their emotions, and the meaning of what they do and say.

about the goal quotes...i believe every people have their own dreams and goals, or at least most ppl have. if those who dont have, tt means u're just simply carryin on ur life cos tt's life, you have to live on. but with goals, at least you can work hard and get motivated to do what you want or like. some stress to push u forward so tt u will get a different kind of feelin rather than always be happy go lucky. so, it really doesnt matter what you dream, anyhow dream also can like i want to take photo with xiaozhu! dreamin only but at least it makes you feel happy right. though it's so like...99.9999% impossible for me. and people have differnt goals...goals in achievin excellent academic results, goals in earning ur first $1million at the age of 20 and forth. there are so many others...

and i thought, i thought, aiming high may and may not mean u are ambitious, it simply means what u want to achieve. SO WHAT if we cant achieve it, at least we did try our very best in workin towards our goal. even if we fall, we may just fall that little bit but the end result is still good. what's about tt?

As the quotes go,
" The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it. "
" Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. "
(copy paste)

DONT doubt others' ability; for people will doubt yours too. dont laugh at people's goals also...believe they can do it and for your own goals, people also believe you can do it. aint tt great.
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you."

- If you put another person on the defensive, you will NOT succeed in convincing them of anything!
- If you are belittle the opinions of others, argumentative and always sure of your own viewpoint, the other person will feel hostile toward you.
- If you are friendly, appeal to others' desire for fairness and excellence, request advice where appropriate, acknowledge effort, and sympathize with his real issues, you will have better chance of changing his thinking

I aint being sanctimonious.
sry to those who think so.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence, also called EI and often measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient or EQ, describes an ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one's self, of others, and of groups.

Defining emotional intelligence
The distinction between intelligence and knowledge in the area of cognition (i.e. IQ) is very clear, where generally, psychological research demonstrates that IQ is a reliable measure of cognitive capacity, and is stable over time. In the area of emotion (i.e. EQ) the distinction between intelligence and knowledge is murky. Current definitions of EQ are inconsistent about what it measures: some (such as Bradberry and Greave 2005) say that EQ is dynamic, and can be learned or increased; whereas others (such as Mayer) say that EQ is stable, and cannot be increased.

Measures of Emotional Intelligence
Some researchers believe EI is a cognitive ability just as is IQ (eg, Mayer & Salovey, 2000), while others believe it is a combination of perceived abilities and traits (e.g., Schutte et al. 1998). These opposing views have inspired two separate domains of inventories – ability-based measures, which focus on maximal performance, and mixed-model measures, which focus on typical performance (Mayer, Salovey, & Caruso, 2000; Petrides & Furnham, 2000).

Self-report measures of EI

The Emotional Intelligence Appraisal measures:

# Personal competence, including:
- Self-Awareness: Recognizing and understanding your emotions in the moment, as well as your tendencies across time and situation.
- Self-Management: Using awareness of emotions to manage response to different situations and people.

# Social competence, including:
- Social Awareness: Understanding the perspectives of other people including their motivations, their emotions, and the meaning of what they do and say.
- Relationship Management: Using awareness of one's own emotions and the emotions of others to manage relationships to a successful outcome.

Evidence is Lacking for the Extreme Claims for the Predictive Power of Emotional Intelligence

It has been argued that Goleman has made unproven claims for the power of emotional intelligence to predict life and work skill:

" ... a person's IQ predicts only a small part of career performance—ranging from 4 to 20 percent. But recent studies have shown that emotional intelligence predicts about 80 percent of a person's success in life". Similarly, in 1998 Goleman claimed that “IQ alone at best leaves 75 percent of job success unexplained, and at worst 96 percent", and he claimed that "more than 80 percent of general competencies that set apart superior from average performers depend on emotional intelligence".
Goleman derived his first claim, that IQ explains less than 75% of job success, ... ... the authors concluded that "between 75% and 96% of the variance in real-world criteria such as job performance cannot be accounted for by individual differences in intelligence test scores". Goleman changed the phrasing of the authors' conclusion slightly, turning their phrase "real-world criteria such as job performance" into the phrases "career performance", and "job success". This is a small change but it alters the meaning significantly, making job/career success the sole outcome not predicted by IQ... Equally problematic, the original 75%-96% success prediction percentages were not correlations obtained from a specific empirical study: the 75%-96% range was a review judgment of the 1995 authors.
Goleman derived his second claim, that emotional intelligence explains more than 80% of success in life or, alternatively, more than 80% of job competencies that distinguish superior employees, from an unpublished privately commissioned study. This study determined that twenty-one key job competencies existed, and Goleman decided that only three (analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, and technical expertise) were not emotional intelligence competencies. Goleman concluded that because he judged 18 of 21 job competencies to be EI competencies, and, because 18 equals 85.7% of 21, thus emotional intelligence explained 85.7%, or more than 80% of life success or more than 80% of job skill competencies of superior workers. These conclusions were mistaken.
