This is a reminder to students preparing for exams. Some of you are excited because you see it as a stepping stone to realising your dreams. The majority are experiencing exam jitters, while many are about to press the panic button because they have not been studying consistently and now have so much to do. Never panic.
Exam tips- Get sufficient sleep - sleep is vital for learners. 7hrs is recommended but you can get by on 6. If you are tired, it is difficult to retain information or concentrate.
- Eat sensibly & drink plenty of water - Neurologists, who study learning patterns, stress that water is very important for brain function. Avoid coffee, tea & carbonated drinks.
- Music - the right kind - If you want to listen to music while you study, avoid music with lyrics because the words will compete for your attention with the words you are learning.
- Limit social interaction - Don't waste precious time chatting when the examinations are approaching. Get your priority straight.
- Avoid going out for hours at a time- Study Plan - a study plan is vital for all serious learners. Be realistic when you draw one up. Don't try to cover too much in one day. Revision is important.
- In the exam hall - read each question carefully before deciding which ones you will do. Divide the time equally between each question. Do what you know best first.
